Her arrival at the Central police station is to lay criminal charges against Higher Education and Training Minister Dr Nobuhle Nkabane. 

DA Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille and the party’s Deputy Chief Whip in the National Assembly Baxolile Nodada are accompanying Khakhau.

The party has accused Nkabane of deceiving Parliament about the formation of an independent panel and the appointments of African National Congress (ANC) linked individuals to the Sector Education and Training Authority board. 

Addressing the media outside the police station, Zille says the reason they are laying charges because President Cyril Ramaphosa refuses to be as good as his word and act against corruption and criminality in Parliament. 

"Those kinds of actions go unchecked, whereas what President Ramaphosa perceives as a slight, which is a deputy minister not asking him permission to go on a private trip that he didn’t have to ask permission for, that is punished in the most severe terms. But serious fraud is somehow condoned by President Ramaphosa’s government," says Zille.
