Reuters was able to confirm the ship as MV Tutor from the design and shape of the ship's antenna and deck which matched file images. The name written on the bow of the ship also matched with file images.
The Tutor was struck with missiles and an explosive-laden remote-controlled boat on June 12 and had been taking on water, according to sources including maritime security companies and the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations.
The sinking of the Tutor would mark the second sinking of a commercial vessel targeted by the Houthis since November, in what they say are attacks in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
