Chief Electoral Officer Sy Mamabolo has cited three reasons for the decision: First, over 200 objections were received, with concerns that the party's constitution promotes Sharia-based policies that conflict with SA's secular values.
Second, the party failed to submit the required 300 supporting signatures from registered voters. Third, the party did not create sufficient public awareness, publishing its notice in a newspaper with limited circulation.
The ISA has 30 days to appeal the electoral Commission's decision.
