Mediators publicly confirms cease fire agreement between Israel, Hamas

Mediators have publicly confirmed that a ceasefire agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas.

And while internal processes in Israel endorsing the deal are likely to be concluded later Thursday, the deal has already been welcomed by the United Nations Secretary General who commended the mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar and the United States.

The 3-phased agreement could put Gaza on a pathway towards peace after more than 15 months of conflict, precipitated by Hamas' attack on Israel that killed 1200 and the subsequent war that has killed over 45 000 Palestinians, injuring tens of thousands more while leaving the enclave infrastructurally destroyed.

Qatar Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al ThaniIt speaking in Doha, ”it gives us a great pleasure as Qatar Egypt and the united states to announce the success of the joint mediation efforts, and the fact that the two religions and the Gaza have reached a deal and a hostage swap and announce a ceasefire in the hopes of reaching a permanent ceasefire between the two sides as well as allowing the access of a large quantity of relief aid to the Palestinian brothers and the Gaza strip. The Israeli Government will be taking the internal measures after which the agreement will enter into effect on January 19. 2025.”

United States President Joe Biden reacted to the deal from the White House' During the phase one the Palestinians can also return to their neighbourhoods, and all areas of Gaza, in a surge humanitarian assistance will began, and innocent people can have a greater access to this vital supplies. during the next six weeks, Israel will negotiate necessary arrangement to get phase 2, which is a permanent end of a war, but a plan says if negotiations take longer than six weeks, the ceasefire will continue as long as the negotiations continues.”

United Nations Chief Antonio Guterres has also welcomed the ceasefire, “United nations stands ready to support the implementation of this deal and scale up the delivery of sustained humanitarian relief to the countless Palestinians who continue to suffer, it is imperative that ceasefire removes the significant security and political obstacles to delivering aid across Gaza so that we can support the major increase in urgent lives saving humanitarian support. humanitarian situation is at catastrophic levels.”

“And I call on all parties to facilitate the rapid and safe humanitarian in needs" This deal is a critical first step, but we must mobilise all efforts towards enhanced broader goals including the preservation of the unity, tranquillity and integrity of occupied Palestinian territory because Palestinian unity for achieving lasting peace and stability and i emphasise Palestinian governance must remain a top Priority. I urge the parties and all relevant partners to cease this opportunity to establish a credible political pass, to a better future to Palestinians, Israelis and the broader region, ending the occupation and archiving negotiated two states solution with Israel and Palestine leading site by site in peace and security in line with international law, relevance and resolutions and previous agreements remain an urgent priority.”
