SA children killed by suspected food poisoning to be buried

Date: Oct 13, 2024

The mass funeral service of the five children who died after allegedly consuming poisoned snacks is underway in Naledi, Soweto in Johannesburg South Africa.

Family members and friends have come out in numbers to bid their farewell to the departed.

The sixth child is still in hospital.

The incident led the community of Soweto to go on a rampage to close spaza shops owned by foreign nationals.

Faith-based Based Organisation’s representative, Pastor Siyabong Mphikwa, said, “This is a repetition of what happened last year, as a faith-based organisation we are committing ourselves that enough is enough. Let there be light in Naledi. No more burying young innocent souls in this community. We are saying enough is enough as pastors.”
