This as the online regulatory body plans to access the dark web in an effort to stop the sale of child sexual abuse material online.
Sexual abuse perpetrated against children remains a growing concern in SA and around the world.
Advocacy groups are also calling for improved child protection efforts by the government.
FPB's acting Chief Executive Officer, Ephraim Tlhako, “We need to be aware, we need to be very vigilant on what our children are having access to. Because with that device that's connected to the internet, that child is now communicating with millions and millions of strangers online.
So the online space has much more issues than the physical world. So when it comes to online safety, we're working very closely with a number of stakeholders, Basic Education, and Social Development.
There's a good relationship we're having with social media platforms themselves, but it is our responsibility as parents to ensure that we are doing our part. Government can come up with a lot of legislation but it's still our responsibility as parents."
