SAWS issues severe thunderstorms warning in KZN province

The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued a level two warning for severe thunderstorms and showers in some parts of KwaZulu-Natal province on Wednesday.

The areas that are expected to be affected are in the southern parts of the province.

Weather Forecaster Sihle Dlamini says, “Today, we have 60% chance of showers and thunder showers covering the southern parts of the province. Going into tomorrow, we have two warnings which is a Level 4 warning and Level 2 warning. Level 4 warning is for severe thunderstorms.”

“It’s covering the north eastern parts, is covering areas such as Pongola and Mbazwana going all the way down to Ulundi as well as some parts of Richards Bay, then the extreme southern parts are areas of Ixobho. Those thunderstorms are expected to be around areas including Harding, Margate as well as some parts of eThekwini, he adds.”
