Mchunu's denial is contained in a statement that his ministry released on Wednesday morning.

According to the statement, Mchunu has also neither requested nor received anything from Matlala. The statement follows allegations by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi that senior police officials were involved in corruption and interfered in crime fighting operations.

The allegations also link Mchunu to Matlala, an alleged criminal mastermind and tender king.
