This is according to the South African Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube.
This after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s directive on Friday, that the BELA Act must be implemented in its entirety.
Gwarube says children should be the focus of the consultations.
“The development of the regulations, norms and standards and policy will be determined by me in conjunction with the public as the President has determined in the commencement presidential minute that he signed yesterday. Above all I do want to remind South Africans that we need to place children at the heart of everything that we do in making this BELA Act a reality. All 13.5 million learners are my responsibility and I will seek to protect them at all costs. Learners in South Africa deserve a quality education system and I am committed to ensuring that that happens and that they receive that at all times.”
