The demonstration, which is set to begin at 10:00 AM CAT, will see marchers making their way to the Union Buildings, the official seat of government in SA's capital.
Organisers say that the president has failed to address the worsening socio-economic crisis in the country, pointing to high levels of unemployment, poverty, and inequality as key issues that remain unaddressed under his leadership. DSA leaders argue that the government’s response has been inadequate and that the people of SA are in urgent need of more effective solutions.
“We can’t afford to wait any longer,” a Spokesperson for Defend South Africa said. “We need a government that is truly committed to improving the lives of its people, not one that just manages the current state of affairs.”
The protest is expected to attract large crowds, with several advocacy groups showing support for the cause. Demonstrators will march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria, the heart of SA’s political power, to demand a change in leadership and a more effective approach to tackling the country’s many challenges.
This march is part of a growing wave of public frustration with the government, as SA continues to face serious economic and social struggles.
