SA’s leadership of the group presents a unique opportunity to shape global policies and advocate for Africa’s interests on the world stage.
Issues the presidency will focus on include addressing poverty, unemployment as well as Africa’s development.
SA will host the G20 under the theme, ‘Fostering solidarity, equality, and sustainable development’.
At the Cape Town Conversation conference hosted by the Thabo Mbeki Foundation last week, Deputy President, Paul Mashatile said the country will use its presidency to prioritise Africa’s development.
It is also expected SA will facilitate a platform to reflect the aspirations and challenges of the Global South.
