Ramaphosa was responding to accusations by some opposition political parties that government has failed to implement the recommendations of the commission. He was tabling the budget vote of the country’s Presidency for the 2025/26 financial year. Ramaphosa says government has done major reforms including creating new laws as part of the implementing the recommendations of the Commission.
“In the three years since the final report of state capture commission was presented to the president. The state has undertaken major reforms based on the recommendations-and creates new legislations. Eight new laws have been enacted to strengthen our anti-corruption institutions. Enhance procurement systems. Reform the intelligence services as well as to improve corporate accountability and public administration. The value of asserts that were linked to state capture that have been recovered by the state-now stand at $600 million,” Ramaphosa said.
