The bodies were found burnt beyond recognition and the vehicle they were apparently traveling in was severely damaged. The vehicle was not burnt. Police Spokesperson, Nobuntu Gantana says the motive for the crime is unknown.

“The motive for this attack forms a critical part of the ongoing investigation. Due to the severity of the crime, the case has been transferred to the Serious Violent Crime Investigation Unit for further investigation. The identities of the five deceased persons are currently unknown. Police appeal to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the victims or shedding light on the circumstances of the incident to come forward,” Gantana said.
