Two passengers die at SA International airports

Date: Sep 15, 2024

Two passengers have died at the South Africa’s OR Tambo and King Shaka International airports, respectively. The Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) says a traveller fell from parking level 5 to the ground on Saturday.

The traveller was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

An unidentified male passenger also died yesterday after collapsing at the King Shaka airport’s domestic arrival terminal.

ACSA’s Ernest Mulibana says the cause of death in both incidents is still unknown.

“The matter has been handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and that an inquest docket has been opened for further investigations. As ACSA, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of both travellers during this difficult time,” says Mulibana.
