SA President’s envoy visits Mozambique amid protests

Date: Dec 28, 2024

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s envoy, Dr. Sydney Mufamadi, has travelled to Mozambique following violent protests that erupted in the country.

The protests were sparked by the confirmation of the ruling party, Frelimo, as the winner of the recent elections by the Constitutional Council.

Mozambique has been experiencing political and security instability since the announcement of the election results, with many calling on South Africa to mediate.

Mufamadi’s visit to Maputo is part of South Africa’s efforts to support the people of Mozambique during this turbulent period.

While it is unclear who Dr. Mufamadi met during his visit, he emphasized South Africa’s commitment to assisting Mozambique during this challenging time.
