She has been extradited from the United States (US) where she has been studying.

US authorities approved the extradition application for Cholota, who previously appeared before the State Capture Commission of Inquiry.

Cholota has been touted as one of the key witnesses on the R255 million ($13.84 million) asbestos tender corruption case.

Some of the high-profile accused in the case include Magashule, who is also the former ANC Secretary-General, Businessman Edwin Sodi and others.

While Cholota had also struck a deal with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to head back to South Africa, this never materialised.

SA and the US have an extradition treaty to tackle crime.

Meanwhile, Cholota had tried to stop the extradition and failed with Judge Erin Aslan of the Maryland District Court ruling that she could be extradited.
