PDM concludes rally with a call for hange Ahead of Namibia's landmark election

Date: Nov 25, 2024

The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), Namibia's main opposition party, has made a final appeal to voters ahead of Wednesday's pivotal national election.

The PDM, which has positioned itself as the voice of change against the long-standing rule of the South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO), is challenging the ruling party in what is anticipated to be the most competitive election Namibia has seen since its independence.

PDM Secretary-General Manuel Ngaringombe addressed the crowd, reflecting on the party's campaign efforts and the nation's journey since gaining independence on March 21, 1990.

"We have fought for freedom, and now we fight for the right to land and economic liberation," Ngaringombe stated, highlighting the party's stance on the critical issue of land access—a cornerstone of the independence struggle that remains unresolved.

"For 34 years, we have faced economic hardships. It's time for change, for a government that ensures Namibians are no longer economically colonised in their own country," he added.

With the election just days away, the PDM's rallying cry for a chance to address the economic challenges and land accessibility issues has resonated with many Namibians.

The party hopes that this election will mark a turning point in the nation's history, bringing forth a new era of governance and prosperity for all its citizens.
