Sibiya has been asked to take leave of absence following allegations made by Kwazulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi regarding his conduct. He says the police service has been put to test.

“These investigations are clandestine investigations and are kangaroo disciplinary proceedings. The law is on my side and I will be ready to attend to this matter. I've got a legal team that is supporting me,” Sibiya said.
