The strike, which started on Tuesday, is being led by several unions, including the Mozambican Civil Servants' Associations, the National Association of Teachers, the National Association of Nurses of Mozambique, and the Association of United and Solidary Health Professionals of Mozambique.
The National Civil Service Union is also supporting the action.
Union leaders have stated that they will continue the strike until the payments are made, declaring that "the time for diplomacy has passed; now is the time for payment."
