The group also spent a year at Harvard University in the advanced leadership initiative programme examining issues around income inequality, human rights and social justice in the US and across the world.
In a statement released by the Charles Ogletree Black Ali Alumni, the association says Ramaphosa and his team managed a potentially difficult situation with aplomb and diplomatic grace.
It says Ramaphosa made an important statement at a time of global tension over the validity of diversity, equity and inclusion and the global commitment to the rule of law.
The group further says the leader represented not only SA but the entire continent and painted a picture of a vibrant continent rooted in the rule of law and working for economic growth and social well-being.
They stressed that Africa should continue with African Growth and Opportunity Act with the US as a strong trading partner.
