Another 38 children in SA hospitalised after eating snacks

Date: Nov 6, 2024

The Free State Health Department in South Africa has dispatched Environmental Health Practitioners to Welkom, to investigate an incident where 38 children from Daluvuyo Primary School fell ill.

Thirty-seven learners were rushed to Bongani hospital earlier today after eating snacks and sweets.

Parents of another learner took the child to a private hospital.

“These children are suspected to have consumed cookies with tablets inside. The 37 children have been seen at Bongani Regional Hospital and released home with medication. Their parents are advised to immediately bring them back should any of their conditions change for further treatment,” says Provincial Health Department Spokesperson Mondli Mvambi.
