Date: Jun 16, 2025

Rajnish Patel, a Doctor at India’s Ahmedabad Civil Hospital says a total of 87 bodies from the Air India crash have been identified through DNA sampling, adding that 47 people claimed the bodies of their respective kin

Patel added that another 12 people were still waiting for DNA confirmation. Health workers were seen carrying bodies in coffins to hand those over to the relatives of the victims. The London-bound AI171, a Boeing 787 dream liner crashed on the residential facility of a local hospital on Thursday, with 242 on board. Air India later confirmed that only one passenger survived.
Patel says there have been a few duplications.

"Among the bodies that arrived here at the hospital from the Air India crash site, 92 DNA matching have successfully been executed, of which the individuals are 87 because there was a duplication in samples," Patel said.
