Concern grows in Central African Republic over President Touadéra’s health

Date: Jun 26, 2025

Questions are mounting in the Central African Republic as President Faustin-Archange Touadéra remains out of the public eye, with reports indicating that he is in Belgium for medical treatment.

His absence comes at a critical moment, with national elections fast approaching, and has triggered growing speculation and concern among citizens and political observers alike.

Although government officials have acknowledged that Touadéra is undergoing medical care, they insist his condition is not serious. However, the lack of regular updates has left the public uneasy.

“When a head of state disappears for days before an election, it fuels concern and uncertainty,” said Geopolitical analyst Aaron Ng’ambi. “The public needs transparency about the President’s condition, especially with elections imminent.”

Touadéra’s health has now become a central issue in the run-up to the polls, with many questioning whether he will be in a position to lead a full campaign or even remain in office.
