The decision was made following reports received by both the BMA and the SA Revenue Service regarding a protest occurring in certain areas of Mozambique. Officials from the Mozambican side of the border indicated that the protest is affecting the road between Ressano Garcia and Maputo Harbour.
"Despite the deployment of the Mozambican Defence Force and Police to the area, the road remains inaccessible for trucks. The situation is expected to persist until approximately 16h00 CAT today, pending further developments. BMA officials are able to process pedestrians and small vehicles for movement in and out of the Lebombo port of entry," BMA's Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Communications and Marketing, Mmemme Mogotsi said.
