Private sector can boost health funding, innovation: Netcare SA

Date: Sep 2, 2024

The Chief Executive Officer of Netcare South Africa Dr Richard Friedland, says private sector can provide significant financial investments that complement government funding.

This can help to finance large-scale health projects, research, and the development of new technologies.

He believes this combined financial strength can make it possible to undertake initiatives that neither sector could accomplish alone.

Dr Friedland was speaking at the 2024 Health association South Africa conference or HASA which is currently underway in Johannesburg South Africa:

"The urgent need to adress the skill shortage in south africa by allowing the private sector to assist in the training of nurses and other health care professionals such as doctors and fianlly colleagues we want  to engage and partner with our governments the presidency the department of health and all relevant stakeholders."
