Over 200 soldiers invade DRC former President’s farm

Date: Jul 15, 2025

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), more than 200 army soldiers stormed the Kashamata farm in Lubumbashi on Monday.

The farm belongs to former President Joseph Kabila, who ruled the country for nearly two decades before stepping down in 2019.

The incident was confirmed by Ferdinand Kambere, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy, the political party founded by Kabila. Kambere described the invasion as a direct attack on private property and a worrying sign of rising political tensions.

Journalist Abedi Jean dela Croix, who interviewed Kambere from Kinshasa, said: “This incident has shocked many within the party. There is growing concern over the use of the military against political figures, and the authorities must provide answers.”
