In a post on the social media platform X, Malema claimed that authorities provided no substantial justification for the visa denial. He further stated that the decision appears to be a deliberate attempt to silence a dissenting political voice.

Malema was at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg when he received the news. 

He said they had been assured that the issue would be resolved, but instead, he received a regret letter just four hours before his scheduled departure.
