Crime threatens SA’s democracy: MRM

Date: Sep 11, 2024

The Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) says South Africa’s hard-earned democracy is threatened by many social ills such as extortion and crime.

The movement is hosting a series of dialogues in Cape Town with civil society organisations, interfaith organisations and local government leaders, to revive moral regeneration.

MRM Chief Operations Officer, Seth Mazibuko says they want to form an action plan to tackle crime.

“Mandela talked about the unethical behaviors that militate against our freedom against the national democracy. This is what we are about here. We see that things are not right. We see that even our ministers of religion are found in courts, rather than pulpits. Even our politicians are no more in Parliament but they are in courts and out of corruption,” says Mazibuko.
