Gabonese went to the polls on Saturday to vote for a new President.
Provisional results show that military leader, General Brice Oligui Nguema- who led the coup that ended the presidency of Ali Bongo, two years ago, has won the election by over 90% of votes.
His victory pave the way for him to govern the oil-rich country for the next seven years.
The election unfolded without the unrest that marred votes in 2016 and 2023, both of which Bongo’s critics said were rigged in his favour.
Nguema seized power after the disputed 2023 election results.
