The organisation says South Africa (SA) needs the ability to produce its own vaccines for animals.
The SA imports vaccines is to deal with the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in three provinces of KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Mpumalanga
The organisation's Chairperson Brand Du Toit elaborates, "We are not self-sufficient in that field, and we are still importing the vaccines from Botswana."
"That is a big concern but the first vaccines are coming at the end of this month and then we can start with the vaccine injections but it is the most concerning that we must import vaccines while our local industry cannot provide."
