Several cases have been opened after women were lured into fake dates and then robbed of their belongings. The trend has been in the spotlight after the kidnapping and killing of student, Olorato Mongale, in the city of Johannesburg. Limpopo Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Samuel Manala has urged women to be careful about people they meet on social media.

“You cannot just be meeting someone on the street or mall and you start exchanging numbers without the assurance. You just always need to be careful. Just randomly, a person that you don't even know him. And not even having a serious relationship. You always need be careful. That is all I can says to the ladies,” Manala said.
