This is according to UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima, who spoke to SABC News about the report’s contents.
This was on the sidelines of the 25th International Aids Conference, which gets underway in Munich, Germany today.
The conference brings together government officials, civil society, scientists and those affected by HIV and Aids.
The UNAIDS will release a comprehensive report on the impact of AIDS in different countries.
She says, “If the latest technology for prevention and treatment are shared, the success can be achieved.
“The report has shown that new infections have been declining fastest in the Sub-Saharan Africa. In South Africa (SA), new infections are today less than half of what they were in 2010,” Byanyima said.
