Ruto fired his entire cabinet yesterday with the exception of the Deputy President and the Prime Minister.

This is in the wake of nationwide anti-government protests. The youth-led protests were sparked by planned tax hikes which Ruto was forced to abandon.

At least 40 people were killed in clashes with the police and some demonstrators briefly stormed parliament last month.

Osore says there has been calls for Ruto to dismiss his cabinet. “Many other government Secretaries are implicated in one way or another in corruptions issues in the country and also under performance, some of the secretaries not being seen and actually spending a lot of time in foreign trips.

“These are some of the things that we have seen in the country, many people sending an outcry that Ruto should dismiss his cabinet.”
