SA Border Management to brief media on Easter operations at ports of entry

Date: Apr 28, 2025

The South African (SA) Border Management Authority (BMA) will give an update on the outcomes of its Easter period operations at SA’s ports of entry at a media briefing on Monday morning.

Ahead of the Easter long weekend, BMA Commissioner Michael Masiapato and Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber announced that $8 million worth of technological devices, including body-cameras and drones, were being deployed at 71 ports of entry to combat corruption and strengthen border security.

Last week, nine suspects, including two officials, were arrested at the Beitbridge border post.

The arrest was after an alleged corruption and contravention of the Immigration Act.
