His comments come in response to reports that Mozambique is considering sending troops to the DRC amid ongoing conflict following the M23 rebel group's advancement in the town of Goma.
De Araujo believes that Mozambique may not be in a position to deploy military forces at this time.
"From my own reasoning, I don't think that Mozambique at this point will be able to deploy military force. Mozambique can give logistic support, diplomatic support, and other kinds of support to the cause of the conflict in the DRC. But I think it would be very unwise, and I doubt if Mozambique at this point has the capacity to deploy military or lethal force to the DRC, given the current situation," De Araujo said.
He also suggested that his comments may have been misinterpreted, emphasising the need for clarity regarding Mozambique's capabilities and intentions.
