In the lead-up to the protests, Mnangagwa appointed a new army chief, a move seen by some as a strategic effort to maintain stability. Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean government issued a stern warning, stating that law enforcement agencies would act decisively against any individuals infringing on the rights of citizens who wish to continue with their daily activities.
Hamadziripi dismissed claims circulating on social media that Zimbabwe had become a "no-go area." He stated, "What you see in the social media is not reality. I have nothing more to say. There is nothing happening in Zimbabwe. It's quiet, everything is normal."
