Presidency notes expulsion of SA’s Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool

Date: Mar 15, 2025

The South African (SA) Presidency says they have noted the expulsion of SA’s Ambassador to the United States (US) of America, Ebrahim Rasool.

This after the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio said that the SA Ambassador was no longer welcome in the US.

In a post on X, Rubio accused Rasool of hating America and President Donald Trump.

He described him as a race-baiting politician, adding that the Trump administration has nothing to discuss with him.

Presidential Spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya says, “The Presidency has noted the regrettable expulsion of SA’s Ambassador to the US of America, Ebrahim Rasool. The Presidency urges all relevant and impacted stakeholders to maintain the established diplomatic decorum in their engagement with the matter. SA remains committed to building a mutually beneficial relationship with the US of America.”
