Date: Mar 27, 2025

South Africa's (SA) Minister of International Relations and Co-operation, Ronald Lamola, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening relations with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Lamola, along with Deputy Minister Alvin Botes, met with DRC Foreign Minister Theresa Kayikwamba Wagner to discuss key issues, including peace, security, and trade relations.

Lamola described the discussions as productive, stating, "As we conclude these political consultations, I wish to thank you for your visit to SA. Indeed, our discussions were fruitful, and I look forward to our next engagement together."

He further emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration, adding, "Please be assured that my department will shortly communicate a proposed date for the review meeting that will launch the preparations for the 13th session of the bi-annual commission, which SA is looking forward to hosting. I wish to reiterate that it can only be for the benefit of both our countries that we leverage our friendship and strong relations to deepen our economic partnership."

The meeting marks another step in fostering diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations.
