The department’s Matome Chiloane says he is deeply disturbed by reports that a Grade 2 schoolgirl was alleged sexually assaulted by a staff member at the Laerskool Dalmondeor Primary School.

Chiloane says the matter was unknown to the school until earlier this week, when police came to arrest the implicated staff member at the school. It is said that the alleged incident happened at the school on last Wednesday. Gauteng Education Spokesperson, Steve Mabona said police are conducting the probe.

“The circumstances surrounding this matter are currently investigated by the police. And we are informed that the alleged perpetrator remains in custody, any information will be shared by the police on this matter.

As the Department we take such allegations seriously and we continue to commit that the safety and protection of our children remains paramount and will be prioritised at all times,” Mabona said.
