Masisi's Botswana Democratic Party lost power after nearly six decades leading the Batswana nation. Mbeki says this a good example set by Masisi and it is beneficial to the region.

Mbeki spoke to the media on the sidelines of the African National Congress Subcommittee on International Relations two day meeting in Ekurhuleni on Gauteng's East Rand over the weekend,

“I'm glad that Masisi quite readily he decided when he saw the results the correct thing to him is to call the winning party and congratulate to them  and say I the President Botswana will never stand in the way, It is a good response.”
