The UAE’s official Wakalat Anba'a al-Emarat news agency confirmed that security personnel intercepted a private aircraft carrying nearly five million rounds of ammunition at an airport within the country. Several suspects have been taken into custody, though their identities remain undisclosed.
Initial investigations revealed that the operation involved high-profile Sudanese figures, including former intelligence chief Salah Gosh. It is alleged that the group was attempting to supply the munitions illegally to Sudan’s military.
This development surfaces amid growing international scrutiny over external involvement in Sudan’s ongoing conflict. The Sudanese government has taken the UAE to the International Court of Justice, accusing it of backing the Rapid Support Forces with military aid. The UAE, however, has firmly denied any such involvement.
