Senior government officials and conservationists from Southern African Development Community (SADC) member countries are meeting in Zimbabwe's capital Harare.
The meeting is to discuss the region's efforts to preserve biodiversity, strengthen cross-border conservation initiatives and the promotion of eco-tourism in the region.
The SADC Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCA) International summit brings together decision-makers, conservation leaders and technical experts with the aim of address the urgent threats to the region's biodiversity, including climate change.
The SADC region is home to 13 TFCA and the largest in the world, the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) spanning across Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
A regional meeting of government officials, conservation leaders is underway in Harare with hopes to further advance trans-boundary biodiversity conservation.
