The victims were preparing for a traditional ceremony when they were ambushed by heavily armed people in the early hours of Saturday morning last weekend.

The motive behind the shooting is still unknown at this stage.

Ingquza Hill Local Municipality Mayor Nonkosi Pepping says, “We are convinced that we have done whatever we were supposed to have done in terms of the preparations. The communities are ready to flock in, in order for them to be part of the memorial service.”

“The people that are affected are ready, we also provided transport for them to be part of the memorial service. We understand the matter is not affecting only the family but also the community,” adds Pepping.
