SA floods claim 10 lives

The Eastern Cape province of South Africa (SA) is grappling with the aftermath of devastating floods that have now claimed ten lives.

The recent update from the police has confirmed the identities of the individuals who perished in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro area.

The tragedy also struck East London, where two lives were lost and one person remains unaccounted for.

Police Spokesperson, Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, has reported that inquest dockets are underway and the search operations by SAPS K9 and rescue units are ongoing.

The community of Kwanobuhle mourns the loss of four of its residents: young Alutha Brown, aged 4; Ndumiso Booysen, 41; Tamsanqa Plaatjies, 62; and Thandixolo Jonas, 46.

In the neighbouring area of Kamesh, 18-year-old Abronita Adams fell victim to the floods.

The town of Kariega also reports the loss of Clive Noah, 72, due to the excessive flooding.

Additionally, Walmer location's resident Sicelo Lusipho, aged 32, has been confirmed dead.
