Economic think tanks, academia as well as citizens in Zimbabwe have urged government to re-align its economic policies and usher in a pro-poor 2019 budget.

According to a research institute, The Labour and Economic Development Research Institute of Zimbabwe, 95% of Zimbabwean are poor.

With the current economic hardships in the country, government has been advised to prioritise social development ahead of the Gross Domestic Product growth.
