Delivering the keynote address at the opening of the second G20 Energy Transitions Working Group meeting in Cape Town, Ramokgopa emphasised Africa’s potential to play a central role in the clean energy revolution.
The three-day gathering brings together energy sector leaders, policymakers, and industry experts from across the world to discuss advancing sustainable energy transitions, fostering cooperation, and sharing knowledge.
Ramokgopa underscored the continent’s wealth of resources and expertise, positioning Africa as an equal stakeholder in global energy discussions.
“Africa has the youngest population, the greatest solar potential, and the fastest-growing demand for energy services. We are not the last frontier for development. We are the next frontier of opportunity,” he stated.
He called for partnerships that recognise African nations not just as recipients of energy investments but as co-creators of solutions needed for a fair and sustainable global transition.
