The announcement came during a meeting between SA's Deputy President Paul Mashatile and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishutin.
Mashatile is on a working visit to Russia, attending meetings in Moscow and taking part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Mashatile said SA wants to attract Russian investments and increase trade with Moscow and he pointed to specific sectors.
He said Russia could invest more in the energy sector, including solar, wind and nuclear energy.
Russia's solar energy sector is developing, with the support of state programs.
In addition, SA seeks to increase the export of agricultural goods to Russia.
