This concern was voiced by African Union Development Agency representative, Brando Chidi Okolo, during the G20 Digital Economy Working Group meeting held in South Africa this week. The discussions at the gathering focused on achieving equitable, inclusive, and just use of AI on the continent.
"Among the youth and startup worlds and some other business environments, there are people that are incorporating AI into their business processes," Okolo said.
"In terms of who's doing better for it that way, it scales with your digital infrastructure. So the more advanced or the more mature your digital infrastructure is, the more it's easier for you to use these modern tools, like AI. We're doing a lot already in the continent; our key focus is on how do we come up with a structure that would bring equity."
