This is signalling a broader vision for regional cooperation and shared growth.
Speaking shortly after her return from visits to Botswana and Zambia, Nandi-Ndaitwah described the discovery as a potential game-changer not only for Namibia but for the Southern African region and the continent at large.
“The resources we have found must benefit not just our country, but our neighbours and the broader African community,” she said. “We are committed to working together in the spirit of mutual development.”
Nandi-Ndaitwah, who took office in March as Namibia’s first female President, has made regional engagement a priority. Her diplomatic outreach has included talks aimed at enhancing trade, energy co-operation, and infrastructure development.
Her visits to Gaborone and Lusaka mark some of her earliest foreign trips since assuming office, reflecting her administration’s focus on deepening strategic ties with fellow African nations.
The recent oil and gas discoveries off Namibia’s coast have sparked interest from international investors, but the President has underscored the importance of ensuring that local and regional stakeholders are central to the sector’s growth.
