Speaking at a Presidential Roundtable on Strengthening the Political and Administrative Interface in Pretoria, the minister praised the positive momentum in trade and investment ties between the two nations.
In an interview with Channel Africa, Tau reflected on the encouraging feedback received following SA’s recent official visit to the United States. He noted the critical role of US investments in the South African economy and welcomed the growing interest from American companies looking to expand their footprint in the country.
“I think it's important that we start by acknowledging the extent of investments by the US in the SA economy,” Tau said. “The US is the second largest trading partner to SA. It has 600 plus companies that are invested in the SA economy, and there's a greater appetite by American enterprises to invest in the SA economy.”
The minister emphasised that SA remains focused on promoting economic growth, enhancing trade, and creating a conducive environment for both local and international investors. The government views its relationship with the US as a vital component in driving development and job creation.
